NHS Digital/iProov facial recognition data collection, storage
NHS Digital, through the NHS app, is collecting and storing UK citizens' facial recognition data using iProov, a private technology company
NHS Digital and iProov will not share details of how the data, which is classified as sensitive under UK law, is collected and stored, sparking concern among digital rights and privacy campaigners. The two entities also refuse to share or publish the contract on 'security' grounds.
Reports also point out iProov's close links with the UK's ruling Conservative Party, to which two of its directors have donated in recent years.
