Queensland high-risk domestic violence predictions

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) is to trial a form of predictive policing in which artificial intelligence is used to determine the potential risks of known domestic violence offenders.

Those categorised as 'high risk' will be visited at home by police before domestic violence escalates, and before any crime has been committed.

QPS say it has removed ethnicity and geographic location attributes before training the AI model.

However, human and civil rights advocates are concerned that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will be unfairly targeted, as they are in real life.
