Apple's Face ID facial recognition system failed to distinguish two brothers with similar though not identical facial features, raising concerns about the system's reliability and security.
A video posted to Reddit showed the brother who had set up Face ID on his new iPhone X showing the feature working properly for him.Β
His brother then tried to unlock the same phone without wearing glasses, and was rejected, but unlocked the device when he donned glasses similar in style to his brother.
Face ID had been shown to struggle in several other scenarios, including distinguishing identical twins.
The incidents raised questions about the reliability and security of Apple's Face ID system.
