AlgorithmWatch examined how Instagram's content moderation and recommendation systems operate, concluding that images featuring less clothing are rewarded with higher visibility, leading to increased likes and comments. 

The finding raised concerns about the implications for body image and societal standards, as it may encourage users to post more revealing content to gain traction on the platform. 

It also highlighted a broader trend in social media where visually provocative content garners more attention and interaction from users.

Instagram responded by attacking the study methodology and rejecting the findings.
