A Canadian man was sentenced to three years in prison for using artificial intelligence to generate child pornography images and videos.
To create the videos, Steven Larouche, 61, from Quebec, superimposed the faces of children onto the body of other children.
The judge ruled that the sexual integrity of the children whose bodies were used had been violated.
Larouche’s lawyers had argued for a lighter sentence as no children had been physically assaulted.
Canadian law bans the visual representation of someone depicted as being under the age of 18 engaged in explicit sexual activity.
The ruling is believed to be the first of its kind in Canada.
