A deepfake spoof of Donald Trump by Saturday Night Live host Alec Baldwin sparked a debate about the implications and ethics of deepfake technology.ย
The video used a clip from the October 1, 2016 episode of Saturday Night Live during which Baldwin skewered Trump's performance in the first general presidential debate, and overlaid Trump's face on that of Alec Baldwin.ย
Alec Baldwin impersonated Trump many times during the 2016 US presidential election for Saturday Night Live, something the notoriously thin-skinned businessman and politician appeared to find distinctly unamusing.
