Lumi Dolls has been associated with the fetishisation, objectification and humanisation of human-like sex dolls, potentially reinforcing harmful attitudes towards women and relationships and contributing to the commodification of intimacy and sexuality. 

It has also been accused of putting human sex workers out of business and destablising the communities in which the robot brothels operate.
